I just got back from a huge craft fair at the Lyndhurst Castle grounds in Tarrytown …what an amazing sight to see! The artists and creators of gorgeous jewelry, clothing, earthenware and paintings (and more) were so spirited and enthusiastic about their wares. Everyone was eager to explain more about their crafts and eager to sell too. I went with my friend, Anita, and our favorites were the bronze-casted pears and figs from an artist from Somerville, MA and an artist who created vertical and horizontal acrylic vases for flowers. Really unique and pretty.
The visit to the grounds was so nice — the trees on the estate were huge with ginormous trunks that were probably 200 years old…some looked as if they’d been struck by a lightning bolt or two…We then visited Lyndhurst Castle and although smaller than we thought, it was interesting inside — the guided tour I feared would be boring but instead it was useful to learn about the people who had lived there….
Today made me proud to live in Westchester…it’s really a spectacular place and I’ve yet to see all of it!
